The composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim is the most important artist to work in the American musical theater over the past half-century. He has helped create more than a dozen landmark shows from Gypsy and West Side Story to such later classics including A Little Night Music, Company, Follies and Sweeney Todd. He has also written such inimitable songs as "Everything's Coming Up Roses" and "Send in the Clowns." Sondheim is inarguably the single most influential force in bringing the Broadway musical into the modern age. In 2008, Mr. Sondheim agreed to accept a limited number of rare appearances, and Hennepin Theatre Trust is honored to welcome him to the State Theatre. Hosted by Star Tribune critics Rohan Preston and Graydon Royce.
